'About PM Modis Gratitude On Hockey Goalkeeper' Responds By Shashi Tharoor

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised each member of the bronze-medal-winning men's hockey team personally on Friday, but it was his post for goalkeeper PR Sreejesh that drew the attention of senior Congress politician and Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor. PM Modi's tweet reminded Mr Tharoor that people who defend the country's interests are just as essential as those who "score goals against others."
"@16Sreejesh, congrats! Your saves were crucial in helping India win the medal. "Congratulations and best wishes," Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, hailing the goalkeeper's "amazing" performance "India won an Olympic hockey medal for the first time in 41 years because to his effort against Germany.
Mr Tharoor, 65, responded to the tweet by saying that the prime minister's appreciation for PR Sreejesh had made every Keralite happy.
PR Sreejesh was born in the Ernakulam district of Kerala. In the final seconds of Thursday's play, the goal keeper and former captain of the Indian men's hockey team made a critical save, securing India's medal.
"It serves as a reminder that defending the country's interests and shielding it from vulnerabilities is just as essential as going on the offensive and scoring goals against others," he added.

Mr Tharoor also reposted a viral message praising PR Sreejesh for some key saves. "When Germany took that last Penalty Part, they forgot one crucial fact: there is always a Malayali in every corner of the world, even in front of the Indian goal," the post said.
